Catharine Jeannette Dillon Sedlak – Obituary

Catharine Jeannette Dillon Sedlak departed this life on July 26, 2018 at Riverside Senior Living in Decatur at 94 years of age. She was born August 25, 1923, to the Reverend and Mrs. C.T. Dillon in the small community of Clinton, Nebraska, where he was the pastor of the local Methodist church. After graduation from high school, she received her bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she was a member of the Willard Sorority and active in the theatre and drama department. She was one of the founders and early teachers of the Community Bible Study program in Decatur. Her family and friends will miss her smile and calm demeanor, but all can take great comfort in knowing that her salvation in Jesus Christ was secure, and she is now in glory withher Heavenly Father.

Mrs. Sedlak is survived by a brother, retired Judge Thomas J. Dillon (Frances) and her three sons, Justin (Linda), Randy (Carla) and Jon (Shelley). Also surviving her are nine grandchildren, Cecelia Amundson (Matthew), Justin B. Sedlak, Jr. (Lala), Joshua Sedlak, Anna S. McLain (Cody), Carrie S. White (Daniel), Rebecca Sedlak, Mallie Sedlak, Charlotte Sedlak and Lucy Sedlak, plus five great-grandchildren. Her beloved husband, Raynold J. “Jake” Sedlak, predeceased her by almost six years.

Funeral service for Mrs. Sedlak will be held at First Bible Church of Decatur at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29th with visitation at the church one hour preceding. Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family, who sincerely thanks the staff and caregivers at Riverside Senior Living, Decatur Home Care, AlaCare Home Health, Hospice of the Valley and individually, Ms. Jean Griffin of Right at Home, for their loving care of Jeannette during these recent months.

It is requested that memorials, if desired, be made in Jeannette’s name to Neighborhood Christian Center, 619 Bank Street NE, Decatur, AL 35601.
