ATHENS – A legacy cast aluminum component manufacturer has announced an expansion at
their North Alabama facility.
Cast Products, Inc. (CPI) has been in business since 1979 in Athens. They are planning a $6.7
million expansion to add a 30,000 sq. ft. facility and an automated state-of-the-art aluminum
foundry. This expansion will add 14 jobs and help retain over 200 current employees.
CPI Chief Operating Officer Colby Medlen explains how this investment will keep them
competitive.
“The new facility and foundry will allow us to meet current and future demand,” said Medlen. “We
will continue to utilize the latest technology to elevate our business to the forefront of the metal
casting industry.”
According to Medlen, CPI is an industry leader in designing, engineering, and manufacturing
aluminum castings and ships products across the United States and exports internationally.
CPI Chief Financial Officer Colin McMurry said this announcement will double CPI’s capacity and
further expand its manufacturing capabilities.
“This expansion will allow us to pursue new industries and opportunities that will create job growth
across all facets of our company,” said McMurry. “Our expansion is a testament to the hard work of
our employees, and we are excited for the opportunity to continue that growth here in Limestone
County.”
Community leaders congratulate CPI on their expansion.
“I congratulate Cast Products, Inc. on their remarkable $6.7 million expansion,” said Limestone
County Economic Development Association President & CEO Bethany Shockney. “This investment
demonstrates their commitment to growth and underscores the thriving business environment here
in Athens and Limestone County.”
“The expansion of an existing business speaks to the economic health of our city,” said Athens
Mayor Ronnie Marks. “The City of Athens will benefit from Cast Products expanding its footprint in
our community through investment and job creation.”
“We are excited to learn of this investment being made by Cast Products in Athens,” said Limestone
County Commission Chairman Collin Daly. “The expansion is a testament to our great county’s
