Mr. Carston “Dixie” Eugene Johnson, age 55, of the Union Hill community of Morgan County, Alabama passed away at Huntsville Hospital during the early morning hours of Monday, December 16, 2024. Dixie was born October 21, 1969 in Marshall County. His parents were Aaron Charles Johnson and Doris Ann Malone. He worked in the construction industry. |He worked hard and took immense pride in his skills as a dry wall finisher. He was married to Elizabeth “Michelle” Sellers Johnson for over 37 years.
Dixie was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He cherished every moment spent with them, especially his granddaughter, Carstyn Smith. He was also an animal lover and was constantly entertained by his pet pig, rooster and dog. He could often be found at a car race/drag strip as he had a huge interest in drag racing. He supported Alabama football.
Dixie is survived by his wife, Michelle Sellers Johnson; his mother, Doris Ann Malone Williams; daughter, Alicia Smith (Steven); granddaughter, Carstyn Smith; brother, Donald Wright (Amanda); and sister, Donna Dillard (Paul); best friends, Jerime Jenkins and Gordon Womack; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Preceding Dixie in death includes his daughter, Chrissie Johnson, sisters, Lillie Mann and Laura Williams; and stepfather, O.G. Williams.
Services for Dixie will be Friday, December 20, 2024 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Peyton Cantrell will present the Eulogy. Pallbearers escorting Dixie to his final resting place in Union Grove Cemetery at Morgan City will be Justin Walker, Brad Sellers, Brendon Lanford, Braxton Lanford, Timmy Evans and Ben Riggs.
