Carolyn Sue Powell, age 80 of Clanton, formerly of Graysville, passed away February 4, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Powell; mother, Jinnie Estelle Bass; father, David Reginald Bass; brother Bobby R. Bass (Pat) and sister Betty Jean Martin (Al).Carolyn is survived by her loving children, Pam Martin (Buddy), Sonya Mangum (James) and Gene Powell (Debbie); brother Larry Bass (Cathy); grandchildren Stephanie Martin, Jennifer Davis (Brett), Carrie Johnson (Randall), Samantha Gaylor (Chad), Russ Mangum, Ashton Mangum, Mary Carolyne Mangum, Ashley Powell and Corey Powell (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Daelin Martin (Kaylan), Kayleigh Davis and Keaton Jones as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Carolyn was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Carolyn was also a caretaker of many in her community. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral services to honor her life will be held at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home at 2pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. The family will receive guests one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Freewill Cemetery at West Jefferson. Rev. Johnny Glasgow will officiate.
