Carolyn Sartain Myers Carolyn Sartain Myers, 84, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel.  Burial will be at Day Cemetery in Oakman, AL.  Kaleb Hall and Kaleb Skinner will officiate.

Carolyn was born on December 25, 1939, and raised in Oakman, AL.  In 1957 she married the love of her life, Henry Neil Myers, and had two sons, Mike and Greg.  In their nearly 64 years of marriage, they traveled to all 50 states and dedicated much of their time, energy, and effort to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  She stood as a faithful preacher’s wife and Sunday school teacher as Neil served congregations in Townley, Reform, Eldridge, and West Walker.  She also brought joy to the lives of many through her cards, her cooking, and genuine concern and love.  She regularly opened her home with great hospitality to host visiting preachers and members alike. Her greatest work was as a devoted wife (Neil’s Mrs. America) and as a loving mother.

She enjoyed taking walks with her family and sharing stories with her grandchildren and great grandchildren as they looked at photo albums.  She was always up for a good game of scrabble or some other board game and in the fall she enjoyed cheering for her Auburn Tigers.  The whole family always looked forward to Christmas at Granny’s house which doubled as a time to celebrate her birthday and the truly special person she was.

She was preceded in death by her Husband-Henry Neil Myers; Parents-Bennie and Lona Sartain; Siblings- Loyd Sartain, Boyd Sartain, Mack Sartain, Olabelle Simpson, Kathleen Williams, Peggy Farley, Hyman Stough, Magdalene Thacker, and Marilyn Shultz; and one Great-granddaughter.

She is survived by her Children-Michael Myers (Dena) of Tallapoosa, GA, Gregory Myers (Shirley) of Carbon Hill, AL; Grandchildren-Joshua Myers (Anna), Karah Skinner (Kaleb), Melissa Gates (Michael), Krystal McCollum (Matthew), Kristin Hall (Kaleb); 16 Great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Josh Myers, Matt McCollum, Michael Gates, Kaleb Skinner, David Haynes, and Bryan Richardson.

A special thanks to Shae Withers and Rolanda Johnson of Affinity Hospice.
