Obituary of Carolyn Lankford Hannaway Carolyn Lankford Hannaway, 89, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was born in Gadsden, AL.

Carolyn was known for her warm heart and compassionate spirit, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her, as she consistently placed the needs of others before her own. Her garden was a vibrant reflection of her nurturing nature, always brimming with colorful flowers and thriving plants. She found joy in simple pleasures, especially tending to her garden and cherishing moments with her family. Carolyn enjoyed watching sports, particularly cheering on the Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Braves and shared this pastime with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her companion of 37 years, Charles Chapman; her late husband, Robert E. Hannaway; her parents, Walter Lankford and Annie (Keller) Lankford Patty, and her siblings, Ovell Nash, Travis (Hazel), Edward, H.B. and Justin Lankford.

Carolyn’s legacy lives on through her devoted daughter, Gwendolyn (Michael) Lee; her cherished grandson, Ryan (Angelica) Lee; her adored granddaughter, Kayla (Weston) King; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Keller, Everett, Sophia, and Camilla. Carolyn will also be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of North Alabama for their compassionate care and unwavering support. Special thanks are given to Kevyn Currier and Chaplain DJ Allen for their kindness. Deep appreciation is also expressed to Always There In Home Care, particularly Catina Bradley, Nora Gomez, Alexia Kosciuszko, Samantha Pettigrew, and Trina Love for their dedicated and loving assistance.

A visitation will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home on Friday, March 7th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00

AM, followed by a graveside service at 11:00 AM officiated by Chaplain DJ Allen. Carolyn’s memory will be forever treasured by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
