Carolyn Jewel Southward, 79, of Iuka, MS, died on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. She enjoyed painting, singing gospel music, and attending gospel singings. Carolyn was a member of Paradise Church and, along with her husband, was instrumental in starting the Midway Volunteer Fire Department which she worked with for over 20 years. She was so proud of her family and loved spending time with them. Her greatest joy was her grandson, Brayden. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, H.O. Southward; her sons, Bryan Southward (Wanda) and Jason Southward (Linda Jo); her grandson, Brayden Southward; her aunt, Ruth Dawson; her siblings, Neil Edmondson (Brenda) and Dana Walker (Thomas); her sisters-in-law, Yvonne Edmondson and Brenda Edmondson; her special friends, Charles and Debbie Ezell (Artis and Brandon); and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorlan and Jewel Page Edmondson; her siblings, Ronnie Edmondson and Donnie Edmondson; her grandparents, Robert and Maybelle Page and William Clyde and Mary Edmondson; her parents-in-law, Herbert and Odie Southward; and her siblings-in-law, James and Earlene Browning. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Neil Edmondson and Thomas Walker. Burial will follow in Rutledge Salem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Southward, Brayden Southward, Channing Walker, Caleb Walker, Ethan Edmondson, Artis Ezell, Brandon Ezell, Shannon Edmondson, Matthew Bates, and Alexander Bates. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Bowman, Charles Ezell, Harry Bowman, Kim Dawson, and Tracy Holman. Donations may be made in Carolyn’s honor to Paradise Church.
