Carolyn Fine’s spirit was set free on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lloyd Fine and Evora Thompson Fine; sister Dorothy Fine Forrester; brothers-in-law Bill Collins and Bob Forrester; and nephew David Collins.

Survivors include her sister Bettye Fine Collins; brother Joe (Gayle) Fine; nieces Sandy Forrester and Kim (Craig) Philpot; nephews Craig (Jean) Fine and Clark (Tammy) Fine; and 12 great- and great-great nieces and nephews.

Carolyn attended Florence State Teachers College. She worked for the Federal government in Arlington, Virginia, and later, at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. She was kind and generous, always ready to help others. She had a dry sense of humor and loved to laugh. She also loved gardening, Alabama football, trips to the beach and to New York to see Broadway shows. But most of all, she loved her family. After her mother’s death, Carolyn took care of her father for many years; was always proud of her siblings’ accomplishments; and was a doting aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved and will remain forever in our hearts.

Carolyn’s family wishes to thank the staff of Hanceville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they gave her for the past three years. We also wish to express our appreciation to the SouthernCare New Beacon hospice team for the comfort and support they provided during the final weeks of her life.

In keeping with Carolyn’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Mountain Grove Congregational Christian Church, P. O. Box 332, Hanceville, AL 35077.

Hanceville Funeral Home is assisting the family.
