Carolyn Ann Moss Hill, age 79 of Decherd, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. She was born in Chattanooga on May 30, 1945, to the late Robert Kenneth and Dorothy Imogene (Parks) Moss Sr. Carolyn’s first and foremost love was Jesus. She was a true servant of God and was faithful to Him and her church, White Oak Grove Church of God. Carolyn taught Sunday School, played piano and sang, and taught other classes over the years. She directed an all-girls choir years ago and led them to the state competition in teen talent through the Church of God, as well as taught several people to play the piano. Carolyn had several jobs over her seventy-nine years. She started at a small ice-cream shop in Decherd. She worked in several office positions starting with the hat factory. She also worked for the Winchester newspapers and for a few years was the Head Supervisor at a private school, Estill Springs Church of God. She retired from working as a Deputy Court Clerk in Franklin County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Darrell Hill, whom she was married to on October 19, 1963, a marriage that lasted almost fifty-three years. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Kenny Moss and Coach Jimmy Moss; brother-in-law, Clyde Hill Jr; and her mother and father-in-law, Clyde Hill Sr and Pearl M. Hill. Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Tanya J. Hill; son, Brett (April) Hill; grandchildren, Thomas (Val) Hill, Brittany Hill, Breanna (Jacob) Reid, Marcus (Jessie) Mason, Judah Hill, and Jodie (Anthony) McCutchen; great-grandchildren, Noah Hill, Ellie Hill, Isabella Hill, R.J. Devaughn, Caroline Hill, Macklyn Reid, Easton McCutchen, Emeron McCutchen, and Ellary McCutchen; sister, Patti (Gary) Golden; sister-in-law, Lelia Moss, and Doris Hill Knott; brother-in-law, Fred (Mary Jean) Hill; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 1-3pm on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Blazer officiating. Interment will be at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
