Caroline Reeves Lampert, age 84, died March 31, 2023. Born in Frankfurt, KY, to John Estill Reeves and Mary Roe Knight Reeves, she graduated from Vassar College with a major in mathematics in 1960 and married Marvin Stanley Lampert that same year. They lived on Long Island in Little Neck, NY, where she worked at Sperry Gyroscope in the radar systems section. The family moved to Huntsville, AL, in 1965. She spent much of her life as a teacher: in the Sunday School at Temple B’nai Sholom, as teacher in the Huntsville Public Schools, as the director of the North Alabama Friends School, and, most recently, teaching basket making at the Huntsville-Madison County Senior Center and in her community of Redstone Village.
Caroline was active in the temple, having served as Sisterhood president and in many other roles. She served as a docent at the Burritt Museum, taught reading to adults, volunteered as a driver for the elderly, and supported the community in numerous other ways. She could fix broken jewelry, untie a knot, repair a lamp, or do almost anything else she put her mind to. At Redstone Village, she joined the Wii Bowling League, served on the Food Committee, and enjoyed painting and other crafts.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Lampert, her brother, Robert Reeves, three children, Robin Lampert, Douglas Lampert and Beth Parks, and two grandchildren, Rachel and Ben Parks. She was predeceased by her brother, David Reeves.
Visiting hours will be 4-6 pm on Monday, April 3, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, April 4 in Maple Hill Cemetery.
