It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Caroline McNiel Vincent (Callie). She is survived by her son, William Wallace McNiel and wife Barbara; son-in-law, William Alan Guzak and wife Alisa; grandson, Nicholas Daniel Guzak; grandson, Samuel Steven Guzak and wife Lauren; nephew, Ulysses S. Grant Peoples and wife Marianne; and niece, Mary Jean Krider and husband Dik. Callie was predeceased by her parents, Wallace Chase Bascom and Alice Bennett Bascom; her husband, Daniel Osburn McNiel; her daughter, Mary McNiel Guzak; and her husband, Donald Leslie Vincent.
She grew up on a farm in Winfield, Maryland (Carroll County) and earned a bachelor’s degree at Towson State Teachers College, now Towson University. She taught elementary school for several years in Baltimore County, Biloxi, Mississippi, and Huntsville, Alabama. Later in life, she taught high school at the Huntsville/Madison County Mental Health Center, retiring in 1995.
Callie was a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church in Huntsville and sang in the choir for many years.
Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2025 at Grace United Methodist Church followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. This summer, there will be a memorial service and burial at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Winfield, MD.
