Carol Sue Westfall Slaton, 80, of Rogersville, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at her residence. Carol was born January 9, 1944 to Clyde Burl and Mae Ellen Westfall. She was a war baby born in Barracksville, West Virgina. She was the second of five children and was proud to be a coal miners’ daughter. Carol was a life-long Christian. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rogersville, Order of the Eastern Star and a retiree of IFDC. She enjoyed thrift shopping and spoiling her grandchildren. Her children were her whole life. She will be remembered as being a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and sister.

Visitation will be Friday, June 14th at Rogersville Funeral Home from 5-7 pm. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 17th from 2-3 pm at Polemic Run Road Baptist Church in Stutton, West Virgina, with funeral service following. Burial will be held in Tinney Cemetery. Vernon Rose, Jr. will be officiating. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Burl and Mae Ellen Westfall; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Ellett; and partner, Charles Curtis. She is survived by her sons, John Slaton and Jaye Slaton; daughter, Donna (Gordon) Cox; grandchildren, Ashley Cox, Alecia Cox, Erica Patterson, Trey Slaton; sisters, Patsy Rose, Alice (Donald) Smallwood, Topsy Scarberry; brother, Sonny (Barbara) Westfall; great-granddaughter, Olivia Ellett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans at help.dav.org.
