Carol Ozell Mardis, 89, of Hatton, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Tony Boyles officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.

Born on October 18, 1934 to the late Alvie Lee and Carrie Bell Thompson Terry, Ozell graduated from Hatton High School and was an active member of Hatton Church of Christ. You could find her raking leaves in her yard or baking her famous pecan pies in her kitchen. She was an avid gardner and enjoyed canning.

Survivors include her children, Tim (Carol) Mardis and Sherry (Tony) Boyles; daughter-in-law, Brandy Mardis; grandchildren, Miranda (Jason) Ball, Mitch Mardis, Lindsey (Ryan) Flatt, Brittany (David) Cameron, Austin (Andi) Mardis, and Dylan Mardis; great-grandchildren, Keeton and Ellie Little, Henry and Hampton Cameron, Declan and Jack Mardis, Ivy Rose and Addie Ren Ball; brother, Greer Terry; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Ozell was preceded in death by her husband, James Ferrell Mardis; sons, Steve Mardis and Terry Joe Mardis; parents; and brother, Garner Terry.

Pallbearers will be Mitch Mardis, Austin Mardis, Dylan Mardis, Keeton Little, David Cameron, Ryan Flatt, Jason Ball, and Erick Morris. Honorary pallbearers are Zach Bradford, Mike Hatton, Hutson Hatton, and Zeke Bishop.

The family extends special thanks to Huntsville Hospital Doctors and Staff, CCU Nurses, Huntsville Hospital Hospice, Greg’s Ambulance Service and HEMSI, Amedisys Hospice Care of Florence, and a very special thanks to her niece Beverly, who has been her caregiver for the past two years.
