Funeral services for Mrs. Carol Butler Peterson, age 78, will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 6 pm until 9 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Peterson passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Mrs. Peterson was a retired bank teller, a softball coach in Humboldt, TN for ten years, and was the President of the girls’ softball league in Humboldt, TN. She played basketball in high school and was an all-star and was giving the nickname “Pee Wee”. Mrs. Carol loved music and hearing her husband, Mr. “Pete” sing, and she was a Christian lady who loved her family.
Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Pete” Peterson; three siblings, “Buddy” Butler, “Bobo” Butler, and Becky Knight; and by her parents, Claude and Donie Butler.
Mrs. Peterson is survived by four children, Kim Persons (Corey), Will Perry (Mary Carol) Kimberly Peterson Reynolds (Randy), and Jeff Peterson (Beth); eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, with one on the way; two great-great grandchildren; a brother, James “Pee Wee” Butler; and a siter-in-law, Mary Ann Peterson.
