Funeral services for Mrs. Carol Ann Colby Navaretta, age 88, of Lineville will be held on Friday February 28, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Pastor Jodie Cole and Pastor Shannon Mapp officiating.
Mrs. Navaretta was born in Connecticut and lived there most of her life until she and her husband moved to Alabama. She attended Emmanuel Gospel Church and then attended First Bible Baptist in Plainville CT under Pastor Thomas Benson. She went to Washington Bible College in Washington D.C. in 1957 after graduating high school. She worked as a secretary for Salvation Army and then owned her own cleaning business. She loved to sing solos and duets with family and friends. Her grandchildren sing in a bluegrass band and she loved to listen to them sing. Her grandchildren always gifted her puzzles every year and she loved to complete them. An avid lover of puzzles, Scrabble, and game shows, she was known for her sharp mind and playful competitive nature. Her laughter filled any room, whether solving a crossword, beating the clock, or singing along to their favorite tunes.
She was survived by her daughter, Robin Macary (Peter) of Lineville; grandchildren, Hannah Macary, Josiah, Macary, and Jordan Macary all of Lineville; and a brother Vern Colby (Beverly) of Connecticut.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry J. Colby and Vera Dixon; her husband, David J. Navaretta and a sister Sharon Colby.
Active pallbearers will be Josiah Macary, Jordan Macary, Noah Dabbs, Samuel Cole, Brannon Dabbs, and Tyler Winebrenner.
Honorary pallbearer will be Bro. David Holcombe.
Her visitation will take place on Thursday February 27, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
