Carmon B. Gannon, 90, of Woodbury, TN, died on April 2, 2015. He was a member of Elkins Church of Christ. He is survived by five children: Barry and wife, Gayla (Parker) Gannon; Tim and wife, Kathy (Thomas) Gannon; Debbie and husband, Mack Melton; Mark and wife, Kathy (Coleman) Gannon; and Connie and husband, Ronnie Foster. He is survived by his grandchildren, Jeremy and wife, Jana Gannon; Jamie and husband, Jonathan Oliver; Jordan and wife Stefanie Gannon; Carly Gannon; Jesse and wife, April Melton; Mandy and husband, Kyle Gay; Michael Kimbro; Marcus Gannon; Jacob and wife, Michelle Smithson; Emily and husband, Charles Haynes; and Anna and husband David Rowland; and great-grandchildren, Makenzi Oliver, Zoe Oliver, Jack Oliver, Amelia Gay, Riley Melton, and Madden Haynes. He is survived by one brother, Clearance (Bud) Gannon and wife, Georgie Gannon.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Rigsby Gannon, parents, Steve and Gertrude Gannon, sister, Nina Gannon, and one grandchild, Amelia Grace Gannon.
Carmon retired from Alvin C. York Veterans Hospital after 35 years of service. Over the years he also worked for Cannon County Schools, AVCO, TVA, Tempkin Axel, Westco Paving, R. E. Martin, US Royal, Turnstead, Kroger and worked as a carpenter in his spare time.
He was a veteran stationed at Fort Hood, TX and Fort Lewis, Washington during the Korean War.
He was a devoted student of the Bible. He served his Lord as an Elder at Wood Church of Christ and Elkins Church of Christ, and led singing, taught Bible study, and preached the Gospel when called upon. He held a special love for his church family and in recent months developed a close bond with his occupational therapist, Laurie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elkins Church of Christ, Wood Church of Christ or the Elkins Cemetery Fund.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday April 4 at Elkins Church of Christ with Bros. Joey Ferrell, Earl Sutton and Jim Blankenship officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Woodbury Funeral Home and Saturday from 12:00 (Noon) to 1:30 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elkins Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy, Jordan, and Marcus Gannon, Jesse Melton, Jacob Smithson, Jonathan Oliver, Michael Kimbro and Kyle Gay.
