THE SHOALS – The acclaimed documentary, “MUSCLE SHOALS” will screen after all at Carmike Cinemas in Florence after all. The announcement came Wednesday afternoon from Carmike Division head, Thomas Bridgeman.

It wasn’t an easy thing to do, getting the theater chain to reconsider its decision. However, after dozens of irate phone calls and e-mails from Shoals residents  and its distributor to Carmike HQ and the local theater, Carmike relented.

The screenings will commence Friday, October 18 and run for 1 week. The deal was thought to be dead, since Carmike’s policy is that it does noot screen films at its theaters that have already been released on the Web or DVD.

Rodney Hall of FAME Studios, which is highly featured in “MUSCLE SHOALS” , was instrumental, along with Magnolia Pictures, in getting Carmike to reconsider. Hall, son of famed record producer Rick Hall, said that he worked closely with the local theater manager to make this happen.

Tickets for the screenings will be at regular prices.
