Carmen Cecilia Campbell of Huntsville, Alabama, went to her heavenly home on January 19, 2024, at the age of 70. She was born on August 15, 1953, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico and was the oldest of nine children in her family.

Carmen was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, and friends. As a military spouse she was devoted and always there to support her loving husband Joseph in all his endeavors. Alongside her husband, she was part of the Prison Fellowship leadership in San Antonio, Texas and the Children’s Bus Ministry in Alvin, Texas. She loved her children, Joe (jr), Patrick, and Mary dearly. She was playful, funny, and a good role model for her children. She adored her two beautiful granddaughters Isabella and Julia. They always knew that grandma was there for them if they needed anything. All her family was important to her, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Her favorite hobbies were attending her weekly ladies’ Bible study, reading, attending exercise classes at the YMCA, and hanging out with children.

Carmen was a respected RN. One of her first jobs was as a Nurse’s Aide in a nursing home in Lakewood, NJ and this is where she fell in love with nursing. She followed her dream to become a Registered Nurse and graduated with honors from Troy State Nursing School in Montgomery, Alabama in 1979 with her Associate Degree in Nursing and in 1987 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. For most of her career, she worked in the ICU setting. She continued with her studies and graduated with her Master of Health Administration in 1992 from the University of LaVerne in California and worked as a Nurse Manager in Pediatrics, Diabetes Care, Skilled Nursing, and Intermediate Care. In her last years before retiring, she also worked as a Lead School Nurse. She officially retired from nursing in 2019.

Carmen is an honorary member of Jubilee Revival Ministries in Vicksburg, MS. and a member of New Life Chapel in Madison, AL. She loved God and will always be remembered for her love and faithfulness.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 25th at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Alabama National Cemetery on Friday, January 26th at 11:00 a.m.
