Funeral Services for Mr. Carlton Fred Amason, Sr., age 79 of Lineville, will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Olive Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Richie Farrow, Pastor Ben Curlee, Pastor Keith Jones and Elder L.C. Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Lineville City Cemetery.
Mr. Amason passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. He was born in Randolph County on January 27, 1943 and graduated from Randolph County High School; he was a long time cattle farmer and past president of the Randolph County Cattleman’s Association, and was instrumental in founding and operating several businesses throughout his life. He was a founding member and organizer of the Clay County Rescue Squad and also the Pine Grove Fire Department. Mr. Amason had served for many years as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon of Pine Grove Baptist Church but in recent years had been attending Olive Branch Baptist Church. He was the former owner of Clay Concrete Company, Amason Auto Parts, and Amason Tire as well as Edgewater RV Park, and worked for several years as a sales rep for Moorman’s MFG. Co. Fred was very active and had served for several years with the Gideon’s and had served as the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Clay Baptist Association for over 21 years.
Mr. Amason is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice Denson Amason, his daughter, Shelia Amason, three sons: Carlton Amason (Lynn), Bryan Amason (Brandi) and Jason Amason (Jan), all of Lineville, seven grandchildren: Chrissy Morris (Brett), Zach Amason (Jessie), Caleb Amason (Cassidy), Jacob Amason (Fiancé Grace), Noah Amason, Jonah Amason and Jaden Amason, one great-grandchild, Wren Morris, and his sister, Shirley Bacon (Larry) of Logansville, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynward Amason and Mamie Jane Heard Amason, his sister, Dolly Mae Warren, and two brothers, Barto Amason and William J. Amason.
Pallbearers will be: Zach Amason, Caleb Amason, Jacob Amason, Noah Amason, Jonah Amason, Jaden Amason and Johnny Denson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Olive Branch Baptist Church from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and from 8:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Thursday.
