Mr. Carlos Dewayne ReadusMr. Carlos Readus was born on January 18, 1971, to Mrs. Wendolyn Readus and the late Robert Shelton. He departed this life on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. Carlos was also preceded in death by his uncle, Hawthorne Readus (Mary); aunt, Annie Ruth McCollins; and nephew, Deonte Shelton.

Carlos accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age, knowing that one day heaven would be his home. Carlos was educated within the Madison County Schools System and attended Sparkman High School. He enjoyed cooking and worked for several eating establishments around the Huntsville area. He joined Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder Michael Hartwell where he sang in the choir.

A man of many talents, Carlos could do and would do any and everything he set his mind on. Carlos will be remembered as an amazing son, grandson, great grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. Everyone that encountered him can recant that Carlos was a quiet and humble person who would give you the shirt off his back.

Carlos’ memories will be cherished by his loving wife, Ericca Readus; stepson, Avery Clevland; mother, Mrs. Wendolyn Moore (Melvin); aunts and uncles: Eric Dean Readus (Marsha), Carolyn Bishop, all of Huntsville, Alabama and Anthony Melbrice Readus (Johnita) of Highpoint, North Carolina; siblings: Clarissa Readus, Monica Shelton, LeeAnne Jones (Carlos), Alicia (Tina) Williams, all of Huntsville, Alabama; four nieces, Danielle Readus, Ateavia Lacy, Ashley Shelton, and Tameaka Shelton; four nephews: Rod Holman, Mark Hampton, and Jarquavius Hampton (Alexis), Anthony Benard; a host of other cousins and friends.

 

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Royal Chapel of Memories (4315 Oakwood Avenue NW Huntsville, AL 35810) with Dr. Theodis Acklin officiating.

Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 3, 2023, and 8:30 until 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home.
