The friends and family of Carla Hedden Hutto are grieving her passing on early Wednesday morning, August 21, 2024. Carla is preceded in death by her parents, Carlyle and Sybil, Franklin County natives.

Carla’s marriage of forty seven years to George is a testament to her devotion to her family, to her reverence for God, and to her sterling character. She was the mother of Elizabeth Camille Hutto (45) and Andrew George Hutto (41). She was the grandmother of Andy and Heather’s children, Bailey Hutto (12) and Braxton Hutto (12). Mourning also are many nieces and nephews.
Carla received her B.S. in elementary education from David Lipscomb College and her Master’s degree from West Alabama University (Livingston). She taught in Georgia, several places in Alabama, and for over fifteen years in Franklin County. Her specialty was early childhood education, overseeing Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for the county, among other things. She serves as a counselor for Rustic Youth Camp for over forty years, where she also served as a board member, and taught Bible classes regularly in the various churches where she and George served; north Alabama, south Alabama, Iowa, and Franklin County. She has enjoyed a special place with the Isbell Church of Christ for the last eighteen years, and has many Christian friends throughout the county.
Among her graces, Carla showed hospitality to people close by and from far away. Her kitchen was host to the locals as well as foreign visitors, with exquisite and healthy dishes.
Condolences have come from as far away as Berlin and in Spanish as well as in English. Her brilliant smile and fetching personality were in keeping with her natural beauty.
“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
…….Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. “
