Carl Wess Pierce, 89, passed away Friday, October 4, 2024, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born December 3, 1934 to the late Gea W. Pierce and the late Leona Volene Parker Pierce. He served in the U.S. Army and stationed in Frankfurt Germany. After the Army he came back home where he met and married the love of his life, Dalia Orear Pierce. Together they enjoyed 63 years of marriage and had 3 children. He enjoyed a lifelong career with the Mississippi Highway Patrol. He also worked for the Itawamba County Sheriff’s department as dispatcher. Carl was a member of Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol Retired Troopers Association and a member of the Masonic Lodge #444 in Fulton. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. In his retirement years he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and his beloved dog Toby. In Carl’s spare time he also enjoyed playing the guitar and mandolin and listening to bluegrass music. He dearly loved the time with his children and grandchildren.
Services will be 1:00 pm on Saturday October 5, 2024, at Senter Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Jarrell and Bro. Mitchell McNeece. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Saturday in the Senter Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be at Itawamba Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his children: Richard (Jennifer) Pierce of Belmont, Lisa (Robert) Frederick of Fulton, Paula (Barry) Bertolet of Tupelo; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and several great-nephews; and a special caregiver of 10 years, Margie Kingsley
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dalia Orear Pierce; sister, Ruth Pierce Wheeler
Pallbearers will be Matt Wheeler, Kyle Stidham, Grant Hawkins, Hannon Miller, Leon Hayes, Chuck Moffatt
