Carl Watkins was born on June 11, 1960, in Huntsville, AL, to the late Roxie Acklin Watkins and T.J. Watkins. He departed this life on Saturday, the 21st of September, at Huntsville Hospital.
He attended school at the Alternative School, first at the Opportunity Center on Washington Street. Then, as he got older, he transitioned to a more advanced school, The Lowe Center.
He attended church with his loving mother and father at Morris Chapel.
Carl loved to listen to music as he danced along, especially to Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson. He also loved watching Sanford and Son; he would just laugh his heart out.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Roxie Acklin Watkins; his father, T.J. Watkins; two brothers: J.W. Watkins and Jerry Watkins; one sister, Shirley Watkins Gurley (Robert Earl); two nephews: Maine Curtiss and James Watkins, Jr.; and one niece, Shanteque LeāChae Watkins.
He leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Omega Watkins Murrell; six brothers: Thomas Watkins (Maggie), Johnny Watkins, James Watkins Sr. (Rosie), Leonard Watkins, Timmie Watkins, and Jeff Watkins; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the Royal Chapel of Memories (4315 Oakwood Avenue NW Huntsville, AL 35810) with Pastor Herbert Cartwright, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Meadowlawn Garden of Peace.
Public viewing will be held from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2024 and 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the Royal Funeral Home.
