Carl Michael “Mike” Bumgardner, age 73, died at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo on Monday, December 12, 2022. Mike was born in Oxford, Ms. on March 13, 1949 to the late Raymond and Ruby Horne Bumgardner. He grew up in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School in l967. He attended Northwest Junior College. Mike made Tupelo his home in the early 1970’s and married Sandra Harris of the Nettleton area on March 12, l980. Mike spent most of his life in outside sales with most of that time with Monts Tobacco Company. After his retirement, he worked in the service department of Carlock Automobile dealership with his last gig at Tractor Supply part time. He was a longtime member and Deacon at Parkway Baptist Church where he used his talents as a skilled guitarist and soloist in the praise and worship band. Mike loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing in younger days, and was a grill master. He loved his dogs over the years and was especially fond of Sadie and Sophie, who survive. A piddler, he enjoyed woodworking and tinkering in his shop. He was a major cheerleader of the Ole Miss Rebels.
A Service Celebrating Mike’s life will be held at 2PM Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo. Private burial will follow in Endville Cemetery in Pontotoc Co. Visitation will be from 12PM-service time on Thursday only at the funeral home. Mike is survived by his wife, Sandra Bumgardner; his son, Corey Burmgardner of Tuscaloosa, AL; his daughter, Emily Kindt (Jakob) of Tupelo; his grandchildren, Piper Ann, Chase, Matthew and Luke; his sister, Peggy Tubbs (William) of Tupelo, his nephews, Joseph Tubbs(Jessica), Chad Tubbs(Mandi) and their families. He Is preceded in death by his parents Raymond Carl Bumgardner and Ruby Horne Bumgardner.
