Funeral services for Rev. Carl Lampitt, 93, of Hanceville will be 2:00 Monday November 4th at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow the service at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 until 2:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Rev. Carl R. Lampitt, a devoted family man, veteran, and retired Lutheran minister, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, in Hanceville, AL at the age of 93. Born on March 28, 1931, in New York, NY, Carl lived a life marked by service, dedication, and compassion.
During the Korean War, Carl served with honor in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany as a member of the 3rd Armored Division. In his role, he managed a supply warehouse, ensuring that fellow soldiers received the resources they needed. His service was a source of deep pride and commitment to his country.
Following his military service, Rev. Lampitt pursued a life rooted in faith and ministry. A devout Christian, he was called to become a Lutheran minister, dedicating his career to serving his congregation with kindness, wisdom, and a steadfast devotion to his beliefs.
Beyond his service in the church and military, he had a lifelong passion for the arts. He especially enjoyed theatre and singing, often participating in events, where his voice and presence brought joy to many.
Rev. Lampitt will be remembered by his family, friends, and community as a man of faith, humility, and generosity.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Norma Lampitt; children, Karen Lampitt-Rayburn, Richard Lampitt (Linh), Kristina Lampitt-Miller, Michael Howard; grandchildren, Justin Carl Mattson (Rebekah), Jason Fredrick Mattson (Natalie), Kaylee Michelle Lynch (Frank), Cassidy Mattson Randleas (Ely), Desire Renee Lampitt, Carl Kahn Lampitt, Sarah Linh Lampitt, Luke Austin Lampitt, David Alex Miller, Mary Elise Standifer; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Rev. Lampitt was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Lampitt-Livingston; grandson, Herbert John “JR” Mattson II; his parents, Charles & Vivian King-Lampitt; and his brothers and sisters.
His legacy of service to both his nation, faith and community will continue to inspire those who knew him.
