Carl Edward “Eddie” Brooks, 97, of Florence, passed away peacefully in his sleep.
A graveside service for the family will be Saturday, June 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Park.
He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was part of the invasion group to land on Okinawa where he remained until the end of the war.
After the war he returned to Malvern Arkansas and worked with National Lead. In 1957 Carl took a job with Ford Motor Company and moved to North Alabama. After retirement from Ford, Carl enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, fishing with his grandsons and sons-in-law, and building furniture in his shop.
Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Brooks; son, Carl W. Brooks; sister, Dorothy Ritchey; and brother, William F. Brooks.
He is survived by his daughters, Vivian Cary (Steve) of Florence, Carolyn Cosper (Pat) of Pell City, AL, and Linda Brooks (Jim) of Grant, AL; grandchildren, Brian Cary (Laura) of Athens, and Brooks Cary of Florence; and great grandchild, Paul Cary of Athens.
The family would like to thank the caregivers who helped with his care and made it possible for him to remain in his home.
