Carl Carter, Sr. was born on June 3, 1920, in Trinity, Alabama the fourth of five children to the late Harrison Carter and Ora (Vaughn) Carter. Carl accepted Christ at an early age and was educated in the Trinity school system. On September 3, 2014, Carl departed this life after a short illness at the River City Care and Rehabilitation Center
In 1940 Carl met and fell in love with Mildred Stovall, and in 1941 they were blessed with a son, Carl Jr. In 1947 Carl met and married Nella Mae Adams and in 1952 to this union Brenda Faye was born. Both Carl, Jr. and Brenda Faye preceded, Carl, Sr. in death.
Carl loved working and was devoted to the Littrell Brothers Lumber Company for several years. After retirement he continued to do odd jobs for the company well in to his 80’s. Carl was an excellent contractor that built two homes himself. He also made many improvements to the home that he lived in. However, his passion was for carpentry and he fancied himself as a pretty good furniture maker. He also loved cars especially fast cars and he had a collection of all most a dozen, which included several early model “Corvettes”. He owned a boat and enjoyed boat riding and fishing.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory: his granddaughter, Kariss Sutton; three sisters, Emma Ruth Owens of Moulton, AL, Annie Kennedy of Fort Mill, SC and Lois Bostwick of Fort Wayne, IN; and a host of other relatives and friends that will miss him tremendously.
