Surrounded by his family, on February 10, 2024, Caris (Al) Allred went to be with his Lord. Caris was born on March 28, 1932, in Bruce, MS. Caris loved life and lived it to the fullest. Near and dear to his heart was his family. He considered it to be his responsibility and calling to know what was going on with every member of his family. Frequently, he would call family members and friends just to talk and hear their voices. When we couldn’t remember the details of a story or would forget a name, he was always ready and able to fill in the gaps and refresh our memories. His home was always the gathering place for every holiday, but he especially loved celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas with his family. Al never met a stranger and had a heart of gold.
A service celebrating Al’s life will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with Pastor Josh Allred officiating. Private burial will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1 PM-service time Tuesday only at Holland Funeral Directors, which is honored to be serving their friends. Caris is survived by two daughters, Gayle Duke of Tupelo, and Renee Fowler (Jimmy) of Plantersville; two sons, Tommy Hill of Memphis, and Mike Allred (Shelia) of Ector, TX; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Troy Allred and wife, Nancy of Sardis; his sisters, Peggy Ann Barber of Senatobia, Deniece Glover of Red Bay, Al, Patsy Turner of Leland, and Judy Parker (Tony) of Leland. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Florence, who died in 2008, his parents, Travis and Vadis Allred; a sister, Barbara Nell Potts, and brothers, Ronnie Allred and Mickey Allred; and son-in-law Max Duke.
