Carey William Cates – Obituary

Carey William Cates, 72, passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Legends Skilled Nursing Facility in Euless, TX after an extended illness. A Tupelo native, he was born August 10, 1943 to Fred and Faye Evans Cates. He graduated from Tupelo High School and Itawamba Junior College and received training as an audiologist. He owned 5 Miracle Ear locations throughout the Mid-south area. An avid football fan, he loved cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels as well as local high school teams and the University of Texas. His family remembers him as a kindhearted man who lived out his faith in God day by day.

Services will be 2 pm Saturday at the Lee Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

He leaves behind his three children, Chad Cates and Matt Cates of Dallas, TX and Susan Powers of West Memphis, AR; and two sisters, Sara Jane Wilson of Tupelo and Cecelia Hughes of Baton Rouge, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lonnie Evans Cates

Pallbearers will be Matt Cates, Jorge Reas, Jeffrey Wilson, Tod Wicker, and Brook Brookins.
