Car-Train Collision Kills Two In Huntsville On Sunday

HUNTSVILLE – The Huntsville Police Department released a statement concerning a crash between a vehicle and a train on Sunday, April 1:

A man and woman were killed Sunday morning in a car-train collision in northeast Huntsville, police said. 

Derek Joshua Collier, 34, the driver of a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, and his passenger, Sarah Kathleen McCallum, 26, both of Huntsville, died when the car struck a Norfolk Southern locomotive about 6 a.m.

Collier and McCallum were killed on impact with the train, police said.

Huntsville police said railroad authorities and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are assisting with the investigation, which is continuing.
