TUSCUMBIA-Camp Courage, A Helen Keller Experience is a 3 day program for students rising in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade designed to encourage and inspire children with visual and/or hearing impairments to develop a greater confidence in their abilities, to form lifelong connections with other students in Alabama, and to create a vision for the future.

On Thursday night Camp Courage welcomed the lates campers and their families to the camp with a dinner on the grounds of the Birthplace of Helen Lerr-Ivy Green in Tuscumbia.

The campers were treated to an introduction from Sue Pilkilton and other city and state officials. The campers and their families were treated to an excerpt from play The Miracle Worker that is put on each year behind Ivy Green.  The children saw Anne Sullivan arrive at Ivy Green for the first time and a scene from Anne and Helen at the pump.

A great time was had by all and we at the Quad Cities Daily felt honored to be a part of welcoming these children to Ivy Green and the Shoals.
