Camellria Gayle Hampton was born July 24, 1968, to the late Vivian Jones-McQuiddy and Wayne Hampton, Sr. in Shelbyville, Tennessee. She entered into eternal life May 14, 2024, at Maury Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Gayle, as she was affectionately known, gave her life to Christ at an early age as she sang with her grandmother, sister and cousins where ever Mother could get them on the program. She was loved by everyone and did not meet a stranger. She loved to be with family, especially the children and they loved to be around her. Gayle loved to sing and dance and have fun.

Gayle was very instrumental in the raising of all her nieces, nephews and some of her cousins. It was like once her mother, Vivian, gained her wings, she handed her role down to Gayle. Every child in the family over the age of seventeen spent quality time with Aunt Gayle.

She attended school in South Bend, Indiana, then graduated from Marshall County High School when she returned to Lewisburg to spread love to those that knew her and those she came in contact with. Once you met Gayle, you would never forget her smile and unforgettable sense of humor.

Gayle leaves to cherish her loving memory, one son Jamal (Laura) Hampton; one daughter Tytianna Hampton; four grandsons, Armani Hampton, Rikhyias Walker, Demontez Walker and Ayden Thompson; two granddaughters, Liara and Leionna Hampton; father Wayne Hampton, Sr. of Shelbyville; three brothers, Wayne Hampton, Jr. of Nashville, James Paul (Ciji) Hurt, Jr. of Lewisburg and Kwasi (Jana) Bishop of Fayetteville; three sisters, Regina and Tonya Hampton of Nashville and Monique (Marterius) Armor of Murfreesboro; five nephews, Freddy, Jr., Demarcus and Eric Blackman, Kingston Armor and Jayden McQuiddy; six nieces, Keyerra and Tiera Allen, Sabrina, Ashley and Nashyia Hampton, Jamayla Hurt and Malaysha McQuiddy; five uncles, James and Mike Jones, Jerry, Don and Bud Hampton; two aunts, Doris Radley and Arlene Smith as well as a host of loving cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Chapel at London Funeral Home, 324 W. Church Street, Lewisburg, Tennessee, Sunday, May 26, 2024, from 12:00 – 200 pm.

Funeral service will be held at London Funeral Home Sunday, May 26, 2024, at 2:00 pm with burial to follow in Cook Cemetery.
