Callie Mae Zills Thornton, age 80, passed away on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Burns Nursing Home.
Mrs. Thornton worked at Russellville Hospital all her life starting at 16-years-old as a candy striper and worked as a nurse’s aide until she retired.
The visitation will be 1:30-3 p.m. today at Spry Memorial Chapel with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be at Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lealon Thornton; daughters, Melinda Thornton and Sandra McClain; son, George Thornton; parents, Walter Manuel and Dollie Zills; and siblings, Clarence Zills, Fred Zills, and Vester Lovette.
She is survived by her sons, John Thornton (wife, Teresa), James Thornton (wife, Paula), and David Thornton (wife, Sheila); eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
