Byron Wallace Vann, 68, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away at his home on July 22nd, 2024.

Born in Opelika, Alabama on September 21st, 1955. He graduated from Huntsville High School, earned a BS in Finance from the University of South Alabama and studied Computer Science at UAH.

Byron spent many years in the restaurant industry before joining SCI and Sanmina where he had a 24-year career as a Sr. Financial Analyst.

A gifted artist and movie buff, he also enjoyed photography and reading. In his youth he loved spelunking, fencing, and snorkeling. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was a licensed Scuba diver. In later years he especially enjoyed weekly trivia nights with his team, “The Bar”, of 20+ years.

Trivia, a Latin word, is the plural of trivium, the literal translation of which is “ a place where three roads meet.” The Roman Empire was famously connected by public roads, many which still exist today. A place where three or more roads intersected were areas where people from different regions met to exchange information and goods. (those who knew Byron well will understand why this bit of information is included here.)

He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Vann. Survived by his mother, Mary Truluck Vann, brother, Johnnie Vann (Laura), both of Huntsville; sister, Helen Vann Moseley (Jeff) of Franklin, TN, nieces and nephews, Christopher Vann, Jennifer Vann, Erin Westrich, Claire Lemoine, Alec Moseley, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Byron was a loving, kind, witty and happy soul. He was a devoted son, dear brother, and well-loved uncle and nephew. He will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

Interment of ashes will take place in the Chapel at the Church of the Nativity, Huntsville, Alabama, August 10th at 1pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Episcopal Church of Nativity, Huntsville, AL
