Byron Alton McLendon, 89, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2024, surrounded by family.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama Byron lived a full and adventurous life, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

A proud veteran, Byron served his country with honor in the United States Army and then again in the Army Reserves. His dedication and service were a testament to his character and patriotism.

Byron had an unwavering passion for the outdoors. He found joy in boating, bicycling, and hunting, activities that brought him closer to nature and allowed him to appreciate the beauty of the world around him. An avid traveler, he and his beloved wife spent many years exploring the United States in their motorhome, creating countless memories and friendships along the way.  He was also a dedicated member of Jackson Way Baptist Church from 1964 to the present.

Byron is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Imogene McLendon, and his parents, James and Vivian McLendon.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Tina Rogers; and his son, Dean McLendon (Pauline); grandchildren, Sean Curtis Rogers (Kathryn Pawlick), Chaz Hoover Rogers, Lane Allison McLendon, and Anna Kate McLendon.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join in a celebration of Byron’s life on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Berryhill Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.   A memorial service will immediately follow in the chapel at 2:00 pm.

Byron’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mr. McLendon’s name to Jackson Way Baptist Church Core Dept.

Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
