Burnis Carroll Lewis departed this life on Monday, January 4, 2016, at the age of 79 years and 1 day. He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on January 3, 1937, the son of the late Roy and Blanche Davis Lewis. On July 3, 1954, he was united in marriage to Betty Sue Deshazier, who survives.
Burnis was employed with Parris Manufacturing Company for 40 years as a die cast operator. He enjoyed deer hunting and he attended of the Nixon First Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Lewis of Savannah, Tennessee; children, Jackie Nell Walker of Savannah, Tennessee, Nancy Diane Reed of Morris Chapel, Tennessee, Donnie Wayne Lewis and John Robert Lewis both of Savannah, Tennessee; brothers, James Lewis and Gene Lewis both of Savannah, Tennessee, Charles Lewis of Alabama, and Bobby L. Lewis of Morris Chapel, Tennessee; sisters, Doris Riley of Waynesboro, Tennessee, Linda Williams of Memphis, Tennessee, Karen Steeley of Crump, Tennessee, Judy Matlock of Adamsville, Tennessee, Debbie Presley and Geneva Duncan both of Savannah, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Lewis; sister, Brenda Burris; and a grandson, Steven Dale Odell.
