Burma Jean Ham Todd, age 91, passed away on February 4, 2024 at Barfield Health Care. She was born September 3, 1932 to the late Johnnie Monroe and Lou Ella Carter Ham of the Brashers Chapel Community. After graduating from Albertville High School she was married to the late Mervin Todd for 67 years. They resided in the Alder Springs Community.
Jean was a member of The Alder Springs Independent Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, Bible School and was a member of The Ladies Auxiliary. Jean’s first job was a hairdresser at Charm Beauty Shop. She worked many years at Community Action Agency in Albertville helping many people with food, electricity, winterizing homes and much more.
Jean is survived by her daughters Ginger (Randy) Mauldin and Sherry Richards. Her grandsons: Jason (Jennifer) Todd, Kevin Todd, Dex (Darci) Richards, and granddaughters Rachel (Alan) Richards Lambert, Emily (Jeff) Mauldin Sims, Erika Richards and Emily Ford Mauldin. One great grandson: Drake Sims and great granddaughters: Sarah (Elliot) Lambert Duvall, Alli Todd, Kate Todd, Kaylee Todd, Caroline Mauldin, Brynlee Sims, Reese Richards, Riley Richards, and Ivy Richards.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lucille Ham and special friend for almost 90 years, Peggy Todd and many nieces and nephews.
Jean is preceded in death by husband Mervin Todd, son Dennis Todd, grandson Eric Mauldin, parents Johnnie Monroe and Lou Ella Ham, brothers Ezra Ham, Quendon Ham, James Ham and sisters Velma Hilsman, Pearl Motley, Glenice Duckett and Bernice Dunn.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 on Thursday, February 8 at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home with visitation from 12 -2. Burial will be in Alder Springs Cemetery.
