Buell Bernard Smith, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2023, at age 96 with son Kevin and daughter-in-law Marian at his side. Born in Belle Prairie City, Illinois on October 21, 1926, he served in the horse cavalry (US Constabulary Army of Occupation) in Germany during World War II. He returned after the war to finish school, graduating from Strayer University with a Master’s degree and becoming a certified public accountant. He worked at the Federal Bureau of Investigation where he met his wife, Grace Revercomb. They were married for 67 years until her death in 2020. Buell had a long family life in Arlington, Virginia and was a member of American Legion Post 44 Unknown Soldier working with the Sentries who guard the tomb. Buell was a member of the post for 29 years until moving to Huntsville, Alabama to be closer to family.

Survivors include son, Kevin Smith; daughter-in-law, Marian Smith; granddaughter, Callie Smith; and grandson, Aaron Smith.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Redstone Village Retirement Community Veteran’s room.
