Buddy R. Whitten, age 76, of Tuscumbia, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013.
Mr. Whitten was a native of Winston County, Lynn, Ala. He graduated from Lynn High School in 1955 and attendedPurdue University. In recent years he was inducted into the Winston County Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. Whitten retired from Reynolds Metals Co. and worked at Wise Alloys. He also worked at Inland Steel, Indiana for 12 years and was a mechanical supervisor for Asia Aluminum Group in China. Mr. Whitten was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Gray Whitten; son, Russell Whitten (Charlene); daughter, Peggy Palmer (David); sister, Beth Manasco; grandchildren, John David Palmer, Savannah Whitten and Jackson Whitten; nieces and nephews.
His graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Lynn Cemetery, Lynn, Ala. Russell Whitten, minister of Destin Church of Christ, and David Palmer will officiate.
The family expresses deep appreciation to the nurses and staff at Helen Keller Hospital and Keller Landing.
Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia is directing.
