Memorial Service for Bruce Whisenant, age 64, will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Ryan Baptist Church with Terry Hudson officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Ryan Baptist Church.
Mr. Whisenant passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at his residence. He was born Saturday, January 9, 1960, to Billy Gene Whisenant and Gisele Whisenant.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Camilla Whisenant; daughter April (John) Amburgy; son, Alex Whisenant; stepson, Kevin Gean; grandchildren, William and Gisele Amburgy; brothers, Steve Whisenant, Phillip (Lisa) Whisenant and Patrick Whisenant and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mr. Whisenant was employed for 38 years by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and retired in 2020. He attended Ryan School and Brewer High School, Class of 1978. He received a Bachlor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alabama, Huntsville in 1984. Bruce had a lifelong love of the outdoors. From a young age, he enjoyed spending time in the seat of a tractor. He loved spending time with his wife and children, riding four wheelers, boating on the river, going to thrift stores and antique shops and visiting with family and friends. Bruce remained faithful and courageous during his 2-year battle with cancer.
He was loved dearly and will be missed.
