Mr. Bruce Randall Light, age 62, passed away September 6, 2024 at Huntsville Hospital. Bruce was born in Marshall County, AL August 26, 1962 the son of B.J. Light and Lavada Ann Nunnelley Light. Bruce was born and raised in the Hulaco community. He was a graduate of Brewer High School Class of 1980 and a member of Ryan Baptist Church. Bruce retired from Sanmina/SCI where he was a Test Engineer. He was a US Army Veteran of 38 years and reached the rank of Command Sergeant Major (CSM). He spent service time in Iraq, Afghanistan and Jordan.
Bruce is survived by his son and daughter in law, Brandon and Heidi Light; daughter and son in law, Amanda and Jordan McDowell; grandchildren, Jack Light, Sam Light, Elli McDowell; brothers, Michael Light (Sharon) and John Oehlenschlaeger; sisters, Martha Gross (Tim) and Ramona and Tonya Light. He was preceded in death by his parents, B.J. and Lavada Nunnelly Bennefield and stepdad, Vernell Bennefield.
The family will receive friends and guest at a visitation between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Ryan Baptist Church. Bruce will lie in state at the church from 1:00 until service begins at 2:00. Brother Terry Hudson and Brother Michael King will officiate. Pallbearers escorting Bruce to his final resting place in the adjoining cemetery will be Brandon Light, Michael Light, Jack Light, Sam Light, Jordan McDowell, Jerry Whitley Don Glasgow and Joe Lundberg.
