Dr. Brooks Russell FaulknerDr. Brooks Russell Faulkner age 89 of Smyrna, died Friday December 13, 2024, surrounded by family.  He was born in Bear Creek, Alabama, and grew up in Holcomb, MO.

Dr. Faulkner was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Anne Faulkner who died in 2015, and his parents, Oscar and Ollie Faulkner.

Dr. Faulkner was a Minister, Counselor and Author of multiple books. He retired after 40 years of service with LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention. He dedicated his life early to ministry and pastored his first church at the age of 17. After high school he continued his education at Southwest Baptist College (A.A.), Southwest Missouri State University (A.B), Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (B.D.; Masters Divinity) and Vanderbilt University (Doctorate of Ministry).  He played Junior college basketball, and continued to play organized basketball well into his 60’s. He loved attending games at Vanderbilt University. He was an avid golfer as well. He was a true lover of animals, especially his beloved dog Rambo. He touched the people he knew, and the people he simply came in contact with, by his kindness, love, encouragement and respect for others. His love and care for his family and friends was unwavering & unconditional.

He is survived by his children Missy Harrison and husband Jim, Tony Faulkner; grandchildren, Zach Zaleski, and Brooke Zaleski; great-grandchild, Paisley; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

Brooks always would say “When I get to Heaven, I’m going to take care of the babies…” Memorials may be made to St. Jude in memory of  Dr. Brooks Russell Faulkner. www.stjude.org

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday December 17th 12Noon until 2:00PM at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Funeral service will be Tuesday December 17th 2:00PM at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Dr. C. Earl Leininger, who has been his friend for over 65 years will officiate.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. www.woodfinchapel.com
