Brooks Named Space Subcommittee Vice Chairman

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Today, the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology (SST) announced Congressman Mo Brooks (R-AL) will continue to serve as vice chairman of the Space Subcommittee in the 115th Congress.  The Subcommittee on Space has legislative oversight on all matters relating to astronautical and aeronautical research and development, including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Space Council, international space cooperation, and numerous other programs related to spaceflight.  In addition to serving as vice chair for the Subcommittee on Space, Brooks will serve on the Subcommittee on Energy and the Subcommittee on Environment.

Vice Chairman Brooks said, “I am pleased to continue serving as the vice chairman on a committee that is so important to America and the Marshall Space Flight Center, located in Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District.  Marshall Space Flight Center is one of NASA’s largest field installations with nearly 6,000 civil service and contract employees and is home to the Space Launch System.  I look forward to working closely with Space Subcommittee Chairman Brian Babin (R-TX), SST Chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX), and NASA Acting Administrator Robert Lightfoot to safeguard America’s position as a world leader in human spaceflight.  The Trump Administration presents an exciting opportunity to restore America’s commitment to sound science and space exploration, and I am eager to get to
