Brian Wade Christa, known affectionately to all as Brian, was a man who lived his life as vibrantly as the Alabama Crimson Tide plays football – with passion, dedication, and a healthy dose of humor. Born on March 16, 1968, in Huntsville, AL, Brian spent his years building a legacy of laughter and love until his passing on August 12, 2024, in Odessa, TX.
Brian’s life was a masterclass in masonry, not just with bricks and mortar, but in the relationships he built and the lives he cemented together. His work as a talented and dedicated brick mason was only eclipsed by his craftsmanship in creating joy. Brian was the kind of guy who knew that the best foundations were laid with a mix of hard work and hearty chuckles.
A true family man, Brian leaves behind a team as tightly-knit as the offensive line of his beloved Crimson Tide. His father, Donald Christa, stands as the proud patriarch of this close-knit crew. Brian’s brother, Derek, and sisters, Aretha Cates and Clana Isolonay, will carry on the Christa tradition of humor and resilience. His legacy is also championed by his children, Ashley Jolly, Crimson Thomas, and Cody (Peyton) Christa, who will no doubt continue to tackle life with the same gusto their father did.
Brian’s spirit will live on through his adoring grandchildren – Logan, Courtney, Jace, Remington, and Dutton – who were the apple of their granddad’s eye. Each of them inherited his knack for laughter and his unwavering Crimson Tide spirit. Brian’s extended family of nieces and nephews will also remember his uncanny ability to light up a room with just a smile and a joke.
Brian was preceded in death by his mother, Elaina Christa, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms and a heavenly chuckle. He joins Angie Christa, mother of Cody and Crimson; his brother Toby Allen Christa; and his son Brian Seagroves Jr., in the great beyond, where the family reunion is sure to be filled with the same warmth and humor Brian spread so generously during his time on earth.
Brian’s interests were as clear-cut as a fourth-down play with one second on the clock. He loved anything and everything to do with the Alabama Crimson Tide. His enthusiasm for his team was infectious, and you couldn’t help but get swept up in his excitement – whether you were a football fan or not.
Describing Brian is easy: funny, handy, selfless. He could turn a wrench and a frown with equal skill, and his selflessness was as legendary as an Alabama victory. Brian’s humor was the glue that held his world together, and his jokes will continue to echo in the hearts of those who loved him.
In life, Brian was the MVP of mirth, a titan of tinkering, and a champion of charity. He tackled every day with a smile, a joke, and an unyielding desire to help others. Brian’s departure leaves a void that will be filled with stories, memories, and echoes of laughter. He played the game of life with the heart of a champion, and for that, he will always be remembered as a legend in the hearts of his family and friends. Roll Tide, Brian, roll tide.
