Brian   Curtis McDaniel Brian Curtis McDaniel, 85, of Huntsville, passed away August 11. Brian was born in Minot, North Dakota to a farming family. One of his lifelong passions was car restoration and tinkering in his workshop. He graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from North Dakota State University and moved to Seattle for his first job at Boeing, where he met and married Laurel Carlile. Many moves and four daughters later, they arrived in Huntsville in 1965 where Brian worked on projects including the Apollo missions. Long lasting friendships were formed. Then, in 1974, Brian and family relocated to Minot ND, where Brian joined his father in real estate and took a job with the Army Corps of Engineers. In 1989, Brian and Laurel returned to Huntsville and reconnected with old friends. After retirement, they enjoyed many travels and adventures before Laurel’s death in 2015. Brian continued to enjoy travel and friendship until his death at 85 years old.

Survivors include his daughters, Leslie of Huntsville, AL, Julie of Arlington, MA, Suzie (Kaye) of Boynton Beach, FL, and Stephanie (Stowell) of St Paul, MN; nine grandchildren; and his sister, Susan of York, PA. Brian was preceded in death by his wife, Laurel.
