Brenda Montgomery, a beloved member of the Columbia, Tennessee community, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024, at her home. She was born on September 30, 1948, in Maury County, Tennessee, to the late James Montgomery and Ollie Williams Montgomery.
Brenda was a woman of deep spirituality and was the longest-standing member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Columbia, Tennessee. Brenda was a proud graduate of the 1970 Class of Columbia Central High School. She was known for her remarkable needlework and embroidery skills, crafting beautiful ornaments and other handmade treasures. Brenda also had a passion for puzzles and was admired for her skill in solving them. Her dedication to her work was evident in her 20 years at Publix Manufacturing and 23 years at Belair Nursing Home turned Life CareCenter before her retirement.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Brenda was an avid lover of history and was actively involved in the Maury County Historical Society. She cherished her feline companion, Ms. Kitty, and found joy in the company of her family and friends.
Brenda is survived by her siblings, Richard (Mary) Montgomery and Anita (Randy) Huggins; nieces and nephews, Alison Montgomery, Rebecca Etrata (George), Elizabeth Smith (Charles), Christopher Montgomery, Cassie Green (Clint); great niece and nephews, John Miller, Kalie Zeglier, Skye Green, and Mason Etrata; as well as aunt and uncles, Donna (Bob) Brooks, Doug (Roseann) Williams, Jim (Nancy) Williams, and Dean (Deborah) Williams. She is also fondly remembered by special friends Joann Pullum, Diane Weatherford, and Pam Stephens.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Eddie Montgomery and Kevin Montgomery, and grandparents Mamie and Floyd Williams, Sammy John, and Laura Dooley Montgomery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A memorial service to celebrate Brenda’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 1:00 PM at First Cumberland Presbyterian on Nashville Highway, with Chris Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
