Brenda Lou Platt, age 72 of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born May 2, 1949 in Akron, Ohio to the late Laban H. Platt and Virginia Baker Platt. Brenda was employed as an administrative assistant at her church and loved to praise God and minister with her friends. She will be remembered as being a quiet and reserved lady who at times could be quite feisty. She enjoyed baking, cooking, reading and watching The Waltons, Andy Griffith and Matlock on TV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Platt. She is survived by two sons, Mitchell (Wendi) Miller of Lynchburg and Ryan (Chariti) Miller of Cowan; grandchildren, Abigail Miller, Savannah (Dillon) Credeur, Bonni Miller, Annie Miller (Myron Varney), Tyler Hatfield, Shelby Miller and Nathan Miller; great-grandson, Xavier Varney; brother, Ben Platt of Manchester; sister-in-law, Carolyn Platt of Winchester; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Tuesday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in Moore-Cortner Chapel with her son, Ryan Miller officiating.
