Brenda Gail Richardson Lafitte, 66, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Ashland Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by loved ones.

Services honoring Ms. Lafitte’s life will be held at a later date. Ripley Funeral Home will be handling all arrangements.

Born June 11, 1957, in Memphis Tennessee, Ms. Lafitte was the daughter of the late Charlene Brewer Richie and Eugene Porter Richardson Sr. She received her education from Vicksburg County Public School System and continued her education with Hinds Junior College. A loving mother, sister and homemaker, Ms. Lafitte was best known for her talented hands and incredible artistic ability. She painted multiple pieces for her local church, helped decorate her community for seasonal events, and even gained recognition from the White House after sending them one of her paintings of our 43rd President George W. Bush.

A Christian, Ms. Lafitte’s favorite pastimes included trips to the beach, music of all genres, and any adventure life offered to her. She was always ready to go and looked forward to outings with her family. She was a true hippy at heart whose style consisted of boho clothing and anything natural. Ms. Lafitte’s easy-going nature, sunny personality, and friendly smile will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memories include one daughter, Jennifer Marie Lafitte, one son, Jerry Micheal Vest Jr. (Katelyn), three sisters, Janiece Bobb (Kelly), Susan Lombana, and Cindy Weil (Terrill), one brother, Rodney Richardson (Donna), four grandchildren, Kaden, Ashlyn, Braylen, and Lena Reign.

She is also preceded in death by one sister, Stacey Gulledge.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Ashland Health and Rehabilitation Center, and to Ms. Lottie Lunday for their care and dedication to Ms. Lafitte and her family.
