Bree Anna Brasfield McCarley, 39, of Athens, died Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at her home. Mrs. McCarley was born May 3, 1984, in Decatur to James (Jim) and Joan Brasfield. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Roselawn Cemetery, with Mr. Dustin Hall officiating.
Bree graduated from Athens Bible School in 2002. She attended Calhoun Community College and finished her degree at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. She worked as an engineer at Redstone Arsenal for several years before transitioning to a full-time wife and mother. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Bree was a devoted and loving mother who went to extraordinary lengths to support and give love to her children. She suffered many health issues and endured numerous cancer treatments to extend her limited quality time while outwardly smiling through her pain and continuing to support her family.
Mrs. McCarley was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Joan Andrews Brasfield; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie and Goldie Brasfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Malcolm and Joyce Andrews. She is survived by her husband of nearly 14 years, Christopher McCarley; daughter, Madelyn (Maddie) McCarley; son, Jackson Van McCarley; father, Jim Brasfield; sisters, Brandy (Brandon) Simmons, and Amber (Will) Lovell all of Athens; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Simmons, Will Lovell, Lee Jordan, Mark Judah, Cooper Simmons, and William Lovell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Athens Bible School (700 US Hwy. 31 N.; Athens AL 35611).
