Brantley “Bud” Fuston, 85, of Scottsboro, Alabama, passed away at his home on September 15th, 2023, with his beloved wife Patricia and daughter, Allison, at his side.
Bud & Pat were married in 1989 and resided in central Florida until 2005 when they moved to Scottsboro.
Bud was born on March 28th, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan. Bud was one of a set of twins born to his parents Opal (Minor) and Brantley Fuston. Bud’s twin sister, Barbara, currently resides in Colorado.
After completing high school, Bud joined the Navy in 1957 and served for 3 years during which time he was assigned to the USS Leyte as a Dispensing Clerk.
After his discharge from the Navy, Bud moved back to Michigan and then later to Florida, where he raised his children and worked in the home construction field. Bud rose to the level of construction inspector prior to meeting Pat.
Upon moving to Scottsboro and retiring, Bud enjoyed his time with multiple hobbies & interests to include fishing, woodworking, do-it-yourself home repair & remodeling, and he was an avid reader. Bud possessed impressive artistic talents which he likely inherited from his mother. He expressed and shared his artistic abilities in several ways, such as, wood carving and the making of Christmas ornaments for his friends and family for many years. One legacy of his talent that he leaves behind is the large rugged cross that he fashioned and is prominently displayed at the Southgate Baptist Church in Scottsboro.
Bud was preceded in death by his father, Brantley, in 1984 and his mother, Opal, in 2000. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia; his sisters, Barbara Plauman, and Linda (Jody) Stewart, daughters Kathleen (Richard) Mullins and Allison (Billy) Boyd; sons David, Daniel, and Patrick.
Bud’s wife, Pat, is thankful for the support she is receiving at this time from her friends and family, to include her daughters, Sue (Jeff) Sauro, Bobbie (Jimmy) Carruth, and her son Tim (Jenny) Goosman, and her many wonderful grandchildren.
A celebration of Bud’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30th, 2023 at Southgate Baptist Church in Scottsboro.
